Martin was born in Inverness, Scotland in 1945
He grew up in South London where he attended the Croydon College of Art before embarking on a career as a
cabinet maker.
In 1988 he and his family moved to Newton Stewart, Scotland.
He instantly fell in love with the area and was soon tempted to start painting again.

By 2007 Martin had painted more than 50 scenes of his beloved Dumfries & Galloway, as well as many still
life works.
He had just completed a series of paintings of the Lake District and North Yorkshire when, sadly, he died
aged 62 years.
His paintings have been exhibited at the Castle Douglas Art Gallery and the Tolbooth Arts Centre.
